“I created The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) in the hope that it would play a part in furthering the understanding that personal peace is the foundation for world peace, and to help people live in dignity, peace, and prosperity — the basics of what makes humanity, humanity. If people are hungry, we can give them food. If people are thirsty, we can give them water. If they are sick, we can help them return to health. If people are looking for peace, the Peace Education Program can help them begin the journey of discovering it.” – Prem Rawat – TPRF’s November 14th Virtual Conference

Prem Rawat is many things to many people. To his children, he’s a father. To his wife, he’s a husband. To his passengers, he’s a pilot. To millions of people in more than 70 countries, he’s a masterful mentor, guide, peace educator, and author.  And to an ever-growing number of people-in-need around the world, he’s a humanitarian – what the dictionary defines as a “person who seeks to promote human welfare.”

Perhaps of all the adjectives used to describe Prem Rawat, humanitarian is the most inclusive. Indeed, when people ask him to describe himself, his answer says it all: “I am a human being.”

Yes, indeed, a human being – one who cares about humanity. But not just the mass of humanity – the individuals who comprise that mass. And more than just caring about humanity, true humanitarians actually translate caring into action. And that, quite simply, is what Prem’s foundation, TPRF, is all about.

Founded in 2001, TPRF has had an extraordinary impact on hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Its flagship initiatives (see below for details) are fueled by thousands of volunteers in more than 70 countries  — inspired, intrinsically motivated people who, during the past decade, have contributed more than $6.4 million in pro bono humanitarian efforts.

TPRF’s stellar performance has been acknowledged by more than 60,000 people in correctional facilities, 40,000 people in educational facilities, and 75,000 people coping with war, violence, substance abuse, and other challenges. It has also been acknowledged by two world-class, independent NGO evaluators – Guidestar and Charity Navigator – for meeting the highest standards of transparency, fiscal responsibility, results, and management.

MORE ABOUT TPRF’S FLAGSHIP PROGRAMS

THE PEACE EDUCATION PROGRAM:  An innovative series of workshops that help people discover their own inner strength and personal peace. Excerpts of Prem Rawat’s talks are at the heart of the workshops, giving participants the opportunity to focus on their own humanity and inner resources such as choice, hope, and dignity.

More than 175,000 people from 70 countries have participated in the Peace Education Program. More specifically, the program has benefited more than 60,000 people in correctional institutions in 40 countries and has earned high praise from prison officials all over the world for improving inmate behavior and reducing recidivism. It has also been delivered to 40,000 people in more than 600 educational facilities and has been credited with helping students tap into their own inner resources and be able to deal more confidently with difficult situations. Additionally, the Peace Education Program has proven to be a powerful catalyst to help people heal from deep traumas, including veterans, war combatants, gang members, the homeless, and people recovering from substance abuse.

FOOD FOR PEOPLE: The Food for People program (FFP) takes an innovative approach to helping people emerge from poverty by providing nutritious meals, clean water, and educational opportunities. The FFP program is currently being offered to disadvantaged communities in India, Nepal, and Ghana. More than 4.1 million nutritious meals have been served via the FFP program and, as a result, the program has dramatically improved the health, school enrollment, test scores, and economic outlook of participating villages and communities.
