All stories begin with \u201cOnce upon a time.\u201d The story that I really want to tell you also <\/em>begins like this, but there is a small difference\u2014and the difference is, \u201cOnce upon this <\/em>time there lives you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hello everyone; Prem Rawat here. So, I have been here in India and doing a lot of interviews, did a couple of events\u2014virtual, of course, and it was very interesting. (And it\u2019s always fun to come to India, whatever the circumstances.)<\/p>\n

And I would just like to say a few things. And one of them is that, you know, there are a lot of changes that we notice around us. And the world isn\u2019t the same place anymore. Maybe you got up in one of the mornings in 2017, 2018\u2014and even the earlier part of 2019, and the world was a different place.<\/p>\n

And all of a sudden, you find yourself in this, caught up in this thing of the pandemic\u2014and so many changes due to that, yeah, restrictions and…. You know, we were all moving in a particular direction, and then all of a sudden, it\u2019s just like, \u201cNo, that\u2019s not going to happen, and no, that\u2019s not going to happen, and no, that\u2019s not going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, it comes down to this. That those things that change, they change because they can. And if they can, they will. And then there are those things that don\u2019t change. And those things that don\u2019t change, won\u2019t change. And the question really becomes, \u201cIn what do you invest?\u201d<\/p>\n

Being here, being on the face of this earth for as long as you are\u2014here, the whole idea of death kind of floats, hovers in so many places, in so many countries that had made themselves the \u201cidyllic land of milk and honey\u201d and \u201cfree of disease\u201d and, you know, so many things. And yet even those have been victimized.<\/p>\n

And all of a sudden, it\u2019s like, \u201cWell, what is safe?\u201d Those countries in which there was no safety, to them it\u2019s like, \u201cOkay, you know?\u201d They don\u2019t sit there and think about death\u2014it\u2019s, there, this is \u201csituation normal\u201d; this is just how it\u2019s always been.<\/p>\n

But then, all those places where people have taken so much effort to make sure that everybody is safe, and all of a sudden, you\u2019re not. But that is because it is <\/em>changeable. It did change\u2014because it can <\/em>change. And it is <\/em>changeable\u2014and it will <\/em>change.<\/p>\n

But then there is something that doesn\u2019t change. And that thing that doesn\u2019t change is what is your reality, what you need to invest in, what you need to be a part of, what you need to court in your life\u2014and allow yourself to be filled with that, with that understanding that you want to attach yourself to that which is real.<\/p>\n

So, that\u2019s definitely one thing that we have to remember. The other thing\u2014and I just had this Hindi broadcast from India. And one thing that I was talking about was, \u201cIs Ravan a person or an infection of society?\u201d<\/p>\n

And it can be both. Ravan could have been a person. But it definitely can be looked at as an infection of a society\u2014and an infection of an individual, where all they start to do is try to make things unchangeable for themselves.<\/p>\n

This is one of the things Ravan worked on\u2014boon after boon that he wanted, to become the most powerful person. Boon after boon that he would live forever. Boon after boon that he could destroy anything!<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s a fascinating story. Valmiki wrote it back when. But it is completely\u2014amazingly enough, it\u2019s relevant today. What\u2019s going on is relevant today. And in those days, it was the innocent people who got killed, who got victimized. And today, after all these years, it is the innocent people who get victimized.<\/p>\n

So I guess, things change and change and change and change and change and change and change. And yet the bowl that they are in doesn\u2019t change\u2014so they go back to being that shape. And you\u2019d think that, you know, all the advances that humanity has made, (and they have made quite a few), that this would be really a different world.<\/p>\n

But you look at that time? And every opportunity that Ravan got…. But you know, but it\u2019s like, \u201cOh, can I have that weapon of yours? Can I have that weapon; can I have that weapon?\u201d And he had numerous weapons. Because again, this burning desire that he had to be the most powerful person.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, nothing worked for him. And I guess, in this world of changes, that doesn\u2019t change. The result that, at the end of the day it doesn\u2019t work, doesn\u2019t change.<\/p>\n

So, very interesting\u2014but still, you have to invest, you have to court that one thing that is real in your life, not all the other things. They may be distracting. And you might get distracted. There\u2019s no harm in getting distracted if you can find your way back. And that\u2019s what\u2019s important.<\/p>\n

Somebody wrote to me this, quite a long letter about \u201cweeds and plants and trees.\u201d And it\u2019s explaining that \u201cYou know, weeds were also plants.\u201d Yeah, but when I<\/em> speak about weeds, I don\u2019t mean weeds that grow out of the garden or in grass, or out of the soil. What I mean is in a garden, those things that you do not <\/em>want to be there. In your life, things that you don\u2019t want to be there.<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s a metaphor. When I say that there is an ocean inside of you, I don\u2019t mean that there is an \u201cocean\u201d inside of you\u2014with sharks and snails and slugs and seaweed and, you know, whales and…. But an ocean is a vast body\u2014say, it\u2019s something very beautiful, very vast inside of you. So, that\u2019s just, you know, that\u2019s metaphors. And just to explain what really is going on.<\/p>\n
