World-renowned street artist Ben Eine will this weekend paint a prominent wall in East London using a quote from peace advocate Prem Rawat with the timeless message: Peace is Possible.
The wall was conceived in response to London’s recent knife crime epidemic, which has this year claimed 37 lives. Communities and families across the capital are being torn apart as a result. With no political solution forthcoming, and a media increasingly focusing in on this issue, Prem hopes that the mural will help inspire Londoners towards resolving the recent violence in the capital, while serving as an object of hope to communities which need healing.
Drawing on decades of promoting his message of peace, which has been used to heal the divides created by Colombia’s savage drug war and in Sri Lanka, Cote D’Ivoire and East Timor, Prem has come to London to strike a note of optimism that there is a way through.
Eine will be painting the mural on Ebor Street, Shoreditch, over a two-day period; Saturday 26th May and Sunday 27th May.
